by admin477351

Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli bolstered his chances of clinching the Formula One world championship with a victory at the United States Grand Prix in Austin on Sunday. The 20-year-old Italian now leads the drivers’ standings with 365 points, positioning himself as a strong contender for the title with five race weekends left in the season.

Antonelli’s win in Austin places him in a commanding lead over his closest competitors. His teammate George Russell, who finished eighth in the race, holds second place in the standings with 242 points. Just behind Russell is Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, with 241 points after finishing fourth in Austin.

Despite missing the chance to secure the championship outright at the United States Grand Prix, Antonelli remains optimistic about his prospects. He expressed a desire to end the season on a high note and maintain momentum as the series heads to Mexico next weekend. Antonelli stated he would not alter his approach to racing, even with the title within reach.

Should Antonelli secure the championship, he would make history as Formula One’s youngest-ever world champion and the first Italian to win the drivers’ title since Alberto Ascari in 1953. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Antonelli as he continues his pursuit of this milestone achievement.
