Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has unveiled a proposal to award a €2,500 bonus to workers under the age of 30, as part of Italy’s 2027 budget plan. The proposal is aimed at boosting youth employment and encouraging young professionals to build their careers within the country. The initiative is included in a broader €26 billion budget package approved by the cabinet.
The financial support, which would be taxed at a minimal rate of 1%, could be distributed either as a lump sum or in 12 monthly instalments. This approach is intended to make it easier for young Italians to enter the workforce and remain in Italy, rather than seeking opportunities abroad. Prime Minister Meloni emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting the professional future of young workers within Italy.
By introducing this bonus, the government aims to address the employment challenges faced by the younger generation and to retain talent that might otherwise migrate. The proposal reflects Italy’s strategy to invest in its youth and ensure that young workers feel supported in their career development.
