Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has asserted that her government maintains greater public support now than when it initially came into power, as she marks a historic milestone of 1,413 days in office. This makes her administration the longest-serving in the history of the Italian Republic. Speaking at a rally held by her Brothers of Italy (FdI) party in Bari, Meloni highlighted that her tenure is not only about longevity but also about sustaining public endorsement and advancing her political goals.
Meloni emphasized that the primary reform under her leadership has been political stability, which she believes has enhanced Italy’s capacity for international negotiation and advocacy of national interests. Despite acknowledging the challenges of governance, describing some days as feeling like “swimming in glue,” she affirmed her unwavering commitment to her role, dismissing any thoughts of resignation.
The Prime Minister reflected on various challenges encountered during her administration, ranging from Middle Eastern conflicts and tensions in the Strait of Hormuz to high fuel prices, natural disasters, terrorism, and issues related to youth crime. Each of these, she noted, has tested her government’s resilience and resolve.
Meloni also highlighted her government’s dedication to fiscal responsibility, criticizing previous administrations for undermining Italy’s financial health with policies such as the Superbonus. She urged her government to continue its efforts and warned those opposing her administration that any attempts to obstruct its progress would be futile.
